  Roof
A roof covers a building and protects the people inside from weather. The shape and material of a roof often depend on its environment.

HINT
Houses that experience snow and rain often have sharply angled roofs so that the water will fall off. Houses in the desert usually have flat roofs because they stay cooler in the hot weather. Roofs can be made from shingles, metal, thatch, tile, turf, wood, and many other materials.
