Like all architects, Wright needed an architectural studio and office where he and his employees would work on designing buildings for his clients. He liked having his studio close to where he lived so he could walk over to work in the studio whenever inspiration struck. Wright met this need by always building his home and studio close to each other. Over the course of his life, he built three different home and studio complexes.
